Maintenance Planning

Planning is the discipline that separates reactive organisations from reliable ones. We implement planning methodology, develop job packages, and build the PM schedule that gives your maintenance team a fighting chance.

The planning problem

Most maintenance organisations have a CMMS. Far fewer have a functioning planning process. The result is work orders that arrive on the day without materials, instructions, permits, or access arrangements โ€” and technicians who plan their own jobs in the field.

Good planning means every job is prepared before it starts: scope defined, parts kitted, permits arranged, tools confirmed, duration estimated, and sequence agreed. It takes discipline to maintain, but the return in wrench-time efficiency and first-time quality is measurable and significant.

What we implement

01
Planning methodology
A documented, role-separated planning process: job scoping, work package development, scheduling, execution, and close-out. Aligned to your operating rhythm.
02
Work order standards
Standard work order types, required fields, completion codes, and feedback loops. Every work order becomes a data point for improvement.
03
Job package development
For critical and recurring jobs: full work packages with task list, materials, tools, permit requirements, duration estimates, and safety requirements.
04
PM schedule design
Preventive maintenance intervals set by consequence class and failure mode analysis. Grouping opportunities identified to reduce operational impact.
05
Backlog management
Methodology for prioritising the corrective backlog by risk: consequence classification, failure impact, and time-to-failure assessment.
06
KPI framework
Leading and lagging indicators for planning performance: schedule compliance, wrench time, backlog age, rework rate, and emergency work ratio.
