What the grant supports

The grant is earmarked for the continued development of The Maintenance Development Toolbox — Bluestream's AI-driven platform for analysing and structuring technical data in industrial maintenance systems.

Maintenance programmes only work as well as the data underneath them. In practice, equipment is registered over time by different people, in different ways, and across different categories — making it hard to analyse asset populations, deploy standardised maintenance concepts, or link the right spare parts to the right equipment. The Toolbox is designed to solve that problem at the source: structured criticality classification anchored in NORSOK Z-008, AI-powered concept matching from O&M documentation, FMECA and RCM workflows, and structured work-instruction generation.

The Melhus kommune grant will accelerate the next phase of that roadmap — strengthening the platform's data structuring, expanding the concept library, and deepening its application to industrial operators.

Why the kommune backed it

In its assessment, the Næringsutvalg highlighted that the project is built on a combination of practical experience and relevant academic and technological competence, and noted as a particular strength that the Toolbox is being developed in partnership with industry, with a major international aquaculture operator signalling active interest.

“The committee's support is an expression of recognition of the project plans.” Næringsutvalg · Case 17/26 · May 17th, 2026

Melhus kommune's kraftfond and næringsfond are limited regional funds, and grants of this kind are awarded selectively. The size of the award reflects the size of the fund rather than the scale of the project; the committee made clear that the decision is intended as a vote of confidence in the Toolbox roadmap.
